Privacy Policy
Last updated September 27, 2026
Draft for legal review. It describes what the Rally app does today.
Rally lets friends run challenges together, like who walks the most steps in a week. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account: your name and email from Sign in with Apple or Google, a user ID, and the nickname, birthday, gender (optional) and interests you enter when you join.
- Profile photo, if you add one. Other players in your Rallies can see it.
- Challenge scores: for fitness Rallies, the totals Rally reads from Apple Health (for example, your step count between a Rally’s start and end). We read only the data types a Rally needs and only after you allow it. Raw Health samples stay on your iPhone; we receive the total.
- Screen Time Rallies: the minutes counted on your iPhone for the apps you chose. The list of apps stays on your device.
- Rally activity: Rallies you create or join, votes, friend requests, and payment status between players (who owes whom, and whether it was marked paid).
- Payment usernames you choose to add (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal). They are shown only to people who owe you.
- Age range from Apple, if you choose to share it, to confirm you’re 18+ for Rallies with money.
- Device tokens for notifications and Live Activities.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your data or share it for advertising.
- We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We never hold or move your money. Payments between players happen in Venmo, Cash App or PayPal, under their own policies.
- Apple Health data is never used for advertising and is never shared with third parties.
Who can see what
Players in the same Rally see each other’s nickname, photo, scores in that Rally, and payment reliability (for example, “Pays in ~3h · 97% on time”). Votes stay secret until voting closes, then only the totals are shown.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase (sign-in and database), Vercel (hosting), Amazon Web Services (profile photos) and Apple (notifications). They process data only to run Rally.
Keeping and deleting your data
You can delete your account in the app: Me → Delete account. This deletes your profile, photo, friends and notifications. Finished Rallies keep their results with your name replaced by “Rally player”, so other players’ history stays correct. You need to settle what you owe first.
Children
Rally is for people 13 and older. Rallies with money are for people 18 and older.
